ANCIENT BANK OF SPAIN BUILDING
NEOCLASSICAL STYLE IN THE TWENTIETH CENTURY
HISTORY
In the sixteenth century an important Renaissance palace owned by the family of Vinuesa, known as Palace of the Counts of Santa Coloma was built.
In the early twentieth century, a new building to house the sturdy construction Bank of Spain until the arrival of the euro when the institution closed its doors in the capital rose in this lot.
THE BUILDING
The building conveys strength, with decorative elements of the classical orders on the façade and the impressive Doric columns. Complete set slightly triangular fronton in which the inscription "Bank of Spain" appears.
It enveloping the building is the Plaza del Olivo where it rests a fine specimen of this species and, beside it, a monument of Antonio Gómez Soria dated in 1993 dedicated to Los Sanjuanes.
