PAST AND PRESENT OF A TEMPLE SORIANO
HISTORY
The only extramural collación the walls of Soria was the Savior. Tradition says that its founder was a grandson of Fortun Lopez, the character supposedly commissioned to repopulate the city. In 1169 he had to give the temple to the powerful Order of Calatrava entrusted with the category. Since 1322 it is believed to be erected in parish church.
In 1967 the old temple was demolished to build one modern and with greater capacity, keeping only the area of the Romanesque apse, turned into the Chapel of the Shrine -.
THE BUILDING
The church only retains the original your typical rural Romanesque apse XII.
The present church, built basically is broad and concrete.
It highlights its exterior, which resembles a cover of French Romanesque, and the large open space inside, without columns.
